Artillery colors scarlet and yellow are used in the bor-der of the 17th Fire Brigade’s Unit Crest. Officially called a Distinctive Unit Insignia, the center of the Crest features a fleur-de-li as a reference to the brigade’s service there in World War II. Four lightning flashes and a yellow arrowhead stand for the five campaigns the brigade participated in during that conflict under the designation VII Corps Artillery. A thunderbolt in the middle—displayed horizontally here, as opposed to the vertical orientation seen in the CSIB—is homage to the brigade’s early association with the 17th Division.
