The 50th Regional Support Group Distinctive Unit Insignia, or unit crest, was originally approved for the 50th Support Group, formed in 1988 from Headquarters and Headquarters Battery of the 227th Field Artillery Brigade and relocated to Homestead, Florida. As part of the Florida Army National Guard, the organization stands ready for active Federal service and is frequently deployed in response to natural disasters such as floods, hurricanes, and tornadoes, embodying the mission implied by the unit motto “Success In Support.”

Approved on 29 July 1977 when the unit was operating under a different designation, the 50th Regional Support Group unit crest scarlet and buff for the border and interior field of the design; these are colors associated with Support. The blue design in the middle is actually a rendering of the Castillo de San Marcos in St. Augustine, Florida, which is both the oldest and largest masonry fort in the continental United States. St. Augustine is the home of the Headquarters, Florida Army National Guard.
