The speed and efficiency the 1st Theater Sustainment Command exhibits in fulfilling its mission is exemplified by the arrow that forms the centerpiece of its Unit Crest, or Distinctive Unit Insignia. The seven-pointed mullet (a mullet is a starlike symbol used in heraldry) stands for the seven continents and is a reminder of the Command’s ability to serve in any and all areas necessary. The Command's motto—"First"—is not found on the Combat Service Identification Badge (CSIB) for the unit, which utilizes the same design as the Shoulder Sleeve Insignia (unit patch).
